Pattern grading is a technique used to reproduce a pattern in other sizes. It must be done accurately; small errors unnoticed when one size is graded become difficulties when many sizes are required. First pattern are prepared in one size usually in size C38 (womenswear)

grading Numeric singlesizes: ex. 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44

Numeric doublesizes: ex. 34/36 38/40 42/44

Lettersizes: ex. XS, S, M, L, XL
